BCAMA Names Vancity Marketer of the Year
Vancouver’s Vancity bank has been named the Marketer of the Year by the BC chapter of the American Marketing Association. The credit union was chosen this year based on the success of it’s “Make Good Money” campaign, with 2013 seeing the firm have a 15% increase in new customers.
The credit union’s 2013 campaign was aimed at 25-45 year old, socially and environmentally conscious individuals, with ad’s depicting customer’s in everyday situations. A transit ad shows a member on a bike and asks “You already go places sustainably. Why not bank that way?” Another shows a small business owner at a farmer’s market and says “You already get value from buying local. Why not bank that way?”
The campaign, developed with Wasserman + Partners Advertising, was designed to crystallize Vancity’s image, and form a concrete answer as to why the credit union is different than a bank. The simple message in the ads tells the brands story, by letting people know that their money will go to good use, and that the credit union is a staple in the community in which it grows. The fact that the story is told by credit union members and staff gives it a voice of authenticity.
