Is she talking to herself? Nope, who types anymore! (insert eye roll)
Whether you are using this feature on your smartphone or not, you’re likely overhearing the conversations. “Alexa, play music” or “Okay Google” can be overheard just about anywhere. Voice search has gain significant popularity in the past few years, thanks to Apple, Google, Microsoft and Amazon all investing heavily in voice-assisted technology.
It’s really all about convenience and our quest to be supreme multitaskers. We’ve also realized that driving and typing away on our cells phones is not only a costly ticket but more deadly that drinking and driving. Every search, if you boil it down, is a question and the internet usually has an answer. Although sometimes it has old age hearing… but even Siri has a sense of humor. Try asking her what zero divided by zero is. There are some other funny ones here.
So how do you make sure you make sure your company is the answer for the question?
First and foremost, you have to understand the differences between voice search and text-based search. Voice search is designed around how people ask questions. It’s really just a matter of creating content with the answers to the most prevalent questions that your target market might ask.
Be sure to consider to localized questions as well. “Where is a fabricator near me?” Make sure that your business is capitalizing on local search listings on Google, Yelp, etc. These listings will boost traffic to your site.
